There are two types: a single-entry visa and a multiple entry visa. Both are valid for a fixed period and cannot be used after they expire. It can be valid for up to 10 years, or one month before your passport expires, whichever is earlier. You must arrive back to your home country on or before the expiry date on your visa.

If the officer authorizes a stay of less than six months, they will indicate in your passport the date by which you must leave the country. If you need more time and do not wish to leave the country upon expire of your visa, you will be required to apply for an extension of your stay.

Visitors are generally granted six months of stay from the date of their arrival into the foreign country, and their passport bears a simple stamp from the Immigration Officer at the Port of Entry. The visitor is then expected to leave on or before the end of the six-month period.
